Lamis works as an associate at the leading Pan-African corporate law firm, Bowmans. She studied law and economics at the University of the Witwatersrand. While at university, she had a particular interest in public interest litigation, and the intersection and interaction between law and policy. She was on the executive committee of the Students for Law and Social Justice and was a director and student consultant at the first student run and managed management consulting firm in the country. While completing her LLB, she piloted an ICT skills development programme for disadvantaged young girls and interned at Constitution Hill, assisting with various rights-based projects. After completing her LLB with distinction, Lamis worked on an evictions mapping project at the Socio-Economic Rights Institute of South Africa. She hopes to find a way to merge her passion for big law and public interest litigation to create large-scale meaningful impact. In her spare time, Lamis enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, crosswords, gardening and sharing a long meal with friends.
